Blue Lines

BLUE LINES

In 2009 November,  we reached the spot in Calcutta, with the help of our taxi driver. The road  was dirty and the place was  little isolated. But  we never knew what was in store for us.  The car stopped in front of a  gate and the driver told me, this is the place.  My wife got down and I followed her. A big gate with a small window on it. No one was around and could not see inside. I pressed the bell on the gate and waited.

Two ladies (covered their head  with a white scarf)  appeared and opened the gate partially and sought the  purpose of our visit. Then the permission was granted and we were guided  inside where we recorded our address in the register. No other security checks and no other questions. In fact , with a smile, we were led to a simple hall and then to the courtyard.

Our  attention was caught by an young boy of our elder son' s age  bathing an old man. He was caring  the weak man like a baby. We just could not comprehend how it  was possible for that young boy to do this service.  The foreigner boy was not related to the old  man.

Probably you might have guessed the place ?.   Lots of people including women were seen taking care of sick  people. Yes, you guessed it rightly, we were  inside the premises of missions of charity at Kolkatta.

Missions of charity is the institution established by Mother  Theresa. The institution where real selfless service is rendered to the deserving and needy.  It was our second visit to kolkatta and we were eager to visit this place for a long  time. My first sight was captured in my memory like a  canon camera and not faded from my memory.   As  we walked inside, We saw another young lady  taking care of an old woman who was visibly not normal. There we saw lots of people,, blind, leper , sick, crippled, old and aged etc, but the atmosphere was  very Serene and calm.   We were then led to a room where two old people were almost on the death bed.

Anybody may donate for this cause. Because  It is easier to give. But may be little difficult to give with real happiness ". But here I say " It is a really miracle when a person submits himself/herself to this  level of  rendering physical voluntary service with happiness. " This miracle can happen only with God's Grace and without that it is impossible to reach that state. What we saw there was the manifestation of Miraculous transformation of mind to a divine level. I saw this miracle and I say  , " I  believe in miracles  now, because I saw it ".

I know for sure that I have not even grown to .5% of that level but I learned now to   respect  service providers. Those two visible blue lines on the forehead of those respected women remained in my mind as a logo of selfless service. This visit to kolkatta  helped me to  realise that I am still in  spiritual infancy and not much of growth  even today.. That is the truth
